Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Children's Programs The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District attracts nearly 2 million visitors annually. Of these, we have TENS of THOUSANDS of children who visit our museum through their school field trips. Our goal is to ensure that every child who enters our barn will know about Texas and Western history. Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame's passion is history and making sure that it stays in the forefront of all children’s thoughts and studies. We believe today's kids are the common denominator between our history and our future. If we fail to teach it, they will fail to learn it.  Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame will be honored and proud to book a tour for groups of 10 or more. Please email:

Students see personal and individual displays of over 100 men and women who have shown excellence in competition, business, and support of rodeo and the western lifestyle in Texas. In addition, they will learn about horse-drawn vehicles in the Sterquell Collection --- wagons for work and play, in the city and on the farm. Students will be asked to put themselves in the role of a pioneer in a covered wagon, a cattle drover on the Chisholm Trail, or a chuck wagon cook during a Spring Roundup. School kids (ages 5-8) also participate in our inter-active exploratorium: Adventures of the Cowboy Trail. Here, they learn about how a Cowboy packed for a trail drive, the importance of branding the livestock, the ins & outs of a packed Chuckwagon (timed event here), and the barter/trade side of a cowboy who used "found" arrowheads while on the trail.  This exciting hands-on exhibit consists of four learning stations! Kids learn and experience: Packing for the Trail - How a cowboy would “pack” and ready (saddle/bridle) his horse for a long, trail drive. We wish to thank the American Paint Horse Foundation for their generous donation in support of this station. For more information on the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), please visit their website www.apha.com. Cowboy Alphabet - The importance of a brand and why they were used, then they “brand” a long horn (a flyer with information on the back about TCHOF, Historic Stockyards and City of Fort Worth).
The ChuckWagon - Supplies "packed" on the "cook's wagon" for the trail drive. Magnets in the form of supplies are used to so the kids can simulate the supplies and pack for their trip!
Treasures on the Trail – Dig in the sawdust for an arrowhead amongst the dust and rocks! Learn the history behind the arrowhead.

Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and Green Mountain Energy Company "Flip Switch" for Museum's New Solar Array -- And First for Stockyards Local dignitaries dedication for first solar system to help power a National Historical District Building and Texas Hall of Fame non-profit organization  The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame is now being powered partly by the sun, thanks to Green Mountain Energy Company and its customers. Green Mountain, Texas’ first competitive retail electric provider to offer cleaner energy, donated $50,000 to our Fort Worth landmark – through its Big Texas Sun Club® - to fund the 19.44 kilowatt (kW) solar power system. The solar array is the first in the Fort Worth Stockyards and believed to be the first for a Hall of Fame non-profit museum in Texas. ::More Info::
